Wahab Riaz, the fast bowler and captain of Peshawar Zalmi, has been the first player in the history of the Pakistan Super League to take 100 wickets (PSL).
Wahab took his 100th wicket against Islamabad United, dismissing Danish Aziz for nothing.
In history, none of the bowlers has ever surpassed the 80-wicket mark. Hasan Ali is second in the PSL with 78 wickets, followed by Shabad Khan (63) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (62). (61).
Riaz is also the PSL’s most capped player, having made 75 appearances for Islamabad United. With 73 PSL games, Kamran Akmal, Wahab’s Zalmi teammate, is the second most capped player, followed by Sarfaraz Ahmed with 70.
Wahab, who has been with Peshawar Zalmi since the first season, took 15 wickets in the PSL’s inaugural season, one less than the league’s best wicket-taker, Andre Russell.
Wahab came one wicket short of being the second edition’s highest wicket-taker, with 15 to Sohail Khan’s 16.
He and Faheem Ashraf both took 18 wickets in the third season.
With 17 wickets in PSL 4, the Zalmi fast bowler was the third highest wicket scorer.
He had a terrible bowling performance in the fifth edition, getting just 11 wickets in 10 games.
He came within two wickets of being the highest wicket-taker last year, with 18 wickets to Shahnawaz Dahani’s 20.
