LAHORE: Former Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar today laid the cornerstone for three new health sector projects in Lahore, including an emergency tower and a trauma centre for service hospital.
The previous chief minister said in a statement that the new emergency tower and trauma center at the Services Hospital would cost around Rs. 5 billion and would add 800 additional patient beds.
Usman Bazdar said that the Trauma Center and the new Emergency Block would offer state-of-the-art medical facilities and that both projects have been developed with the expanding population of Lahore in mind.
Buzdar also set the cornerstone for the Hazrat Hameed-ud-Din Hakim Surgical Complex at Sheikh Zayed Medical College and Hospital.
On the other hand, the interim Chief Minister lay the groundwork for a trial project at Rahim Yar Khan’s Zahir Pir. A medical facility will be established in Zahir Pir as part of this project.
Usman Bazdar requested that these three projects be completed as quickly as feasible and said that the Punjab government has allocated the highest money in history for health sector modernization.
He further said that inhabitants of Punjab have been provided with the Health Card, a Rs 400 billion scheme that is unique in its type.
