New Delhi (Reuters) – Toyota Motor (NYSE: TM) Corp and Suzuki Motor Corp announced on Friday that production of their first hybrid vehicles in India will begin in August.This is part of a partnership that the two Japanese automakers formed in 2017.
The hybrid sport utility vehicle (SUV) will be made at Toyota’s plant in southern India. It was made by Suzuki. In a statement, the companies said that the SUV will be sold in India and shipped to places like Africa.
The SUV will have powertrains made by Suzuki and Toyota. Suzuki will make a mild hybrid, and Toyota will make a strong hybrid.
