Tomorrow, the Punjab Assembly will meet, and the election of a new chief minister will be on the list.
LAHORE: Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has called the assembly session for April 2 (tomorrow), with the election of a new chief minister on the agenda.
At 11:00 a.m., the provincial assembly session will begin.
On March 28, the Pakistan Muslim League—Quaid (PML-Q) chose to back Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Assembly’s (NA) no-confidence vote after the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.
According to Bol News, the PML-Q and Prime Minister Imran reached an agreement before to the vote on the no-confidence motion, which would begin debate on March 31. As a result, the Punjab CM resigned.
Instead, the PTI agreed to support Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi as the candidate for Punjab’s chief minister.
Meanwhile, Usman Buzdar’s resignation as CM has been accepted.
