The Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) filed a petition in the Sindh High Court on Wednesday challenging the new delimitation of seats under the Sindh Local Government Act 2021. (SHC).
In December, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, leader of the MQM-P, and other leaders filed a constitutional challenge to the Sindh government’s decision to make a new delimitation on December 31, 2021. They say that this is against the law.
Petitioners say that the notice in question was sent in violation of a Supreme Court of Pakistan order found on page 531 of PLD 2014.
The petitioners sought that the court declare the notice to be unlawful and unconstitutional since it was issued without legal authority.
They requested that the court order the provincial government to remove the contested notice.
