KARACHI: The Pakistan Navy’s indigenously built and manufactured Fast Attack Craft Missile FAC(M) PNS HAIBAT was commissioned on Thursday, while the third 16 Ton Bollard Pull Tug PNT GOGA was inducted, according to the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The chief guest was Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, Principal of the Naval Staff.
PNS HAIBAT is the country’s first big project. It was made by the Maritime Technologies Complex and built by KS&EW without the help of international experts.
At the event, he said that the commissioning of PNS HAIBAT marks the beginning of a new era in indigenous design and construction, which has grown over time.
The chief of naval staff emphasized that PNS HAIBAT would bolster the Pakistan Navy’s capacity to react to maritime issues in order to secure seaward defence and preserve peace and stability in the Indian Ocean area.
He lauded the coordinated efforts of KS&EW, MTC, and the Pakistan Navy for the historic feat.
Earlier, Rear Admiral Athar Saleem, Managing Director KS&EW, said that the Missile Craft PNS HAIBAT’s multi-mission capability would boost the Pakistan Navy’s maritime defense capabilities. He said that the introduction of PNT GOGA was also a big deal because it would help the country’s shipbuilding industry.
Foreign dignitaries, officials from the federal and provincial governments, and representatives from the Pakistan Navy and KS&EW attended the event.
