The government would implement an e-gate system to ease the movement of foreign Pakistanis, according to the PM’s adviser.
ISLAMABAD: On Sunday, the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Abroad Pakistanis, Muhammad Ayub Afridi, said that the government will implement an e-gate system to expedite the entrance of overseas Pakistanis into Pakistan.
Addressing a three-day international conference in Islamabad, he said the government was also thinking about putting internet service in Pakistan’s embassies around the world.
“With online services, Pakistanis living outside the country would be able to get visas and NICOPs without visiting an embassy,” he said.
He said that the Roshan Digital Account allows Pakistanis living abroad to register bank accounts in Pakistan.
Adviser: People from Pakistan who live outside of Pakistan should invest in Pakistan and take advantage of the government’s business-friendly programs.
In March, Dr. Arif Alvi emphasised the need to enable foreign investment in Pakistan’s information and communication technology industry.
The Pakistani American Diaspora should be involved in the ICT sector because of the government’s incentives, he said at a meeting in Islamabad about how to get them involved.
It is important for Pakistan to focus on training and skill development in the ICT industry in order to meet the needs of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, President Asif Ali Zardari said.
