With three days to go until the start of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) playoffs, Shadab Khan’s Islamabad United are having problems with their health.
The team was in a good place to move on to the next level, but now a lot of United players have been injured, which means they won’t be able to play in important games.
Shadab Khan is one of them, having missed his team’s encounter against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday due to a gastro intestinal ailment.
It’s worth noting here that the 23-year-old suffered a groyne injury in Monday’s game against the Karachi Kings.
While supporters awaited Shadab’s recovery ahead of today’s pivotal showdown, the reports were not encouraging.
Shadab is doing better, according to the franchise’s representative; but, he will be unavailable today.
According to the spokesman, the all-rounder is now engaged in light training and is anticipated to fully recover shortly.
In the absence of Shadab, aggressive hitter Asif Ali will lead the squad.
Another thing to keep in mind: Zeehan Zameer and Colin Munro will both be unable to play tonight because of side injuries, with the former having fitness issues.
Tonight’s game against Qalandars is very important for injury-plagued Islamabad United, who are trying to get into the next round and need just one win to do so.
