In March 2022, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) added 2,354 new companies, bringing the total number of companies to 165,688.
A press release from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan says that the total paid-up capital of new companies that were formed this month was Rs3.5 billion.
According to a report, foreign investors bought into 53 new businesses in March. There were people from Afghanistan and Bangladesh who bought shares in these companies. They also bought shares in these companies from other countries. These investors came from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Belgium.
Private limited companies made up almost two-thirds of businesses in March, while single-member companies made up just over a third of businesses that month. The rest of the companies were registered as public unlisted companies, not-for-profit groups, trade organizations, and limited liability partnerships (LLP).
About 99.6% of businesses were registered online, and 215 people from outside the country signed up.
Almost 500 people were added to the real estate development and construction sectors. Information technology had 365 people added to it. Trading had 258, and services had 228. Education had 110 people added to it; food and beverages had 75; tourism had 72; textiles had 68; corporate agricultural farming had 60; engineering had 47; chemical had 47; pharmaceutical had 46; health care had 45; mining and quarrying had 37, and transportation had 36.
There were 2,033 companies that were registered at the same time with the Federal Board of Revenue, 47 companies with EOBI, and 16 companies with PESSI/SESSI. This is because the SECP was integrated with the Federal Board of Revenue and other provincial government departments.
