Federal Minister for Planning and made a big announcement today, on International Women’s Day. He said that his ministry’s National Gender Policy framework would be put into place.
In a tweet, the minister said that the new policy gives Pakistani women a “systematic framework with clear goals and responsibilities for improving their lives.”
Speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad, the minister emphasised the men’s accomplishments, stressing that gender equality is “critical for every society’s progress.”
There are many differences between the difficulties faced by women and those faced by men in the country. It is unfair to compare the difficulties both genders face, so he said that it is not fair to compare them.
He said that women’s education is still a big problem in a country that past governments haven’t been able to solve.

Umar said that there is still a significant gender divide.
“Girls continue to enrol in school at a far lower rate than boys,” Umar said. This disparity widens when students go from basic to secondary grades, and the dropout rate rises due to a variety of factors, he said.
The minister noted that PTI’s education strategy would address this issue as well.
