On Tuesday, during Pakistan’s second Test match against Australia at the National Stadium, Abdullah Shafique and Babar Azam established a new partnership record in the fourth innings.
The two hitters’ bat-and-ball teamwork lasted more than 500 balls, making it the longest fourth-inning partnership in any test.

In the previous innings, India’s Rahul Dravid and Deep Dasgupta batted for 500 balls.
The Indian pair completed the feat against South Africa in 2001.
Abdullah Shafiq, who had been playing wonderfully throughout the Karachi Test, succumbed to the tense nineties and was removed for 96 runs on the last day.
Pakistan was bowled out for 148 in the first innings of the Karachi Test after Australia declared at 556 for 9.
Australia declared the second innings at 97 for two, imposing a 506-run mark on Pakistan.
