After the market closed on Friday, Indian stocks went down because losses in the power, auto, and consumer durables sectors hurt the market.
At the end of the day on the NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.26 percent, and the BSE Sensex 30 fell 0.09 percent.
The best performer on the Nifty 50 was Reliance Industries Ltd (NS: RELI), which rose 2.03% or 55.20 points to close at $2,779.50.In late trading, Infy rose 0.91 percent, or 13.70 points, to 1,521.70, and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS: LART) rose 0.91 percent, or 14.90 points, to 1,652.05
The worst performer was Grasim Industries Ltd (NS: GRAS), which fell 6.50 percent or 93.10 points to close at 1,339.45.Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM) fell 4.61 percent, or 996.75 points, to 20,638.00, while UltraTech Cement Ltd. (NS:ULTC) fell 5.48 percent, or 329 points.
The best performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO: RELI), which rose 2.02% to 2,779.50, Infosys Ltd (BO: INFY), which rose 0.94% to 1,522.00, and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO: LART), which rose 0.85% to 1,651.60.
UltraTech Cement Ltd. (BO:ULTC) fell 5.49 percent to 5,677.40 in late trading; Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) fell 2.71 percent to close at 7,709.85; and NTPC Ltd. (BO:NTPC) fell 2.51 percent to 155.05 at the end of the day.
On the India National Stock Exchange, stocks that went down outnumbered stocks that went up by 1249 to 585, and 46 stocks stayed the same. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1907 stocks went down, 1314 went up, and 127 stayed the same.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, fell 2.05 percent to 19.90, a new one-month low.
Gold futures for August delivery went down 0.19 percent, or $3.50, to $1,867.90 per troy ounce. Crude oil for delivery in July dropped 0.66 percent, or 0.77, to $116.10 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract dropped 0.54 percent, or 0.64, to $116.97 a barrel.
EUR/INR increased 0.20 percent to 83.32, while USD/INR increased 0.30 percent to 77.61.
At 101.92, the US Dollar Index Futures were up 0.8%.
