During the first two months of the current fiscal year 2022–23, Pakistan made US$ 426.070 million by offering various information technology (IT) services in different nations.
In comparison to the US$ 419.980 million earned from the provision of services during the corresponding months of the fiscal year 2021–2022, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported a growth of 1.45%.
Between July and August of this year (2022-23), the export of computer services increased by 10.10 percent, rising from US $312.620 million to US $344.190 million.
The exports of computer services saw a difference between the exports of hardware consultancy services, which fell by 36.31 percent from US$ 0.515 million to US$ 0.328 million, and the exports of software consultancy services, which increased by 7.20 percent from US$ 113.566 million to US$ 121.740 million.
While exports of repair and maintenance services fell from $0.192 million to $0.187 million, exports and imports of computer software-related services increased by 31.24 percent, from $73.552 million to $96.529 million.
Furthermore, exports of other computer services increased by 0.49 percent, from US $144.95 million to US $144.06.
During the study period, the export of information services fell by 32.67 percent, from US $1.010 million to US $0.680 million.
When it comes to the exports of information services, news agency services saw a decline of 39.50 percent, from US$ 0.757 million to US$ 0.458 million, while other information services had a 12.25 percent decline, from US$ 0.253 million to US$ 0.222 million.
The data showed that during the months under evaluation, the export of telecommunication services decreased by 23.65 percent, falling from US$ 106.350 million to US$ 81.200 million.
According to PBS data, the export of call centre services, which increased from US$ 27.058 million to US$ 34.766 million during the period under review, increased by 28.49 percent, while the export of other telecommunication services decreased by 41.44 percent, going from US$ 79.292 million to US$ 46.434 million.
