Imran Khan said that Shaheen Shah Afridi would win the Pakistan Super League title. It happened.

The Lahore Qalandars beat Multan Sultans on Sunday to win their first Pakistan Super League title.

The Qalandars had won by 42 runs against the Sultans to break their championship drought.

Prime Minister Imran Khan met with the victorious team’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rana Aatif, captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, rising star Mohammad Zahid, and coach Aqib Javed before the event.

The gathering took place only days after Lahore named Shaheen as their new leader.

As soon as the news was announced, many questioned whether the Qalandars had made the correct choice in electing Shaheen as captain.

However, in his meeting with the Qalandars’ leadership, Prime Minister Imran Khan commended the squad for entrusting Shaheen with critical responsibilities and predicted that the 21-year-old would lead his side to triumph in the major event.

The Prime Minister said that selecting a youthful squad captain was a wise choice for the franchise.

As a consequence of this choice, the prime minister was reported as saying, “Youth always alter outcomes, and the Lahore Qalandars may win the PSL championship this season as a consequence of this choice.”

The Lahore captain has also become the youngest captain to lead a team to a major T20 competition trophy, beating Steve Smith, who led the Sydney Sixers to a Big Bash League (BBL) victory in 2012 at the age of 22.
