General Motors Co. said Tuesday that it is recalling 140,000 Chevrolet Bolt EVs in North America because the carpet could catch fire if a front seat belt pretensioner goes off in a crash.
The US automaker said that the recall includes some Chevrolet Bolt EVs from model years 2017 through 2023 because, in rare cases, after a crash, front seatbelt pretensioner exhaust gases could come into contact with floor carpet fibres and start a fire.
