LAHORE: Pakistan’s political situation took a turn on Monday when Usman Buzdar offered his resignation as Punjab’s chief minister after the united Opposition’s submission of a no-confidence resolution against him in the provincial legislature.
This bolstered Prime Minister Imran Khan’s position during the Opposition’s attempts to depose him through a vote of no confidence, as the PML-Q sided with the premier after his nomination of their nominee, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, as the next Punjab Chief Minister. According to Moonis Elahi, the senior party leader, he accepted the offer as well.
However, a meme frenzy broke out on social media in response to the news. Most of the memes were in praise of Buzdar.
