fiscal deficit increased to 4% of GDP in the first nine months of FY22.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan:  Pakistan’s budget deficit increased to Rs 2.56 trillion, or 4% of GDP, in the first nine months of the current fiscal year.

At the same time last fiscal year, the overall budget deficit was 3.6 percent of GDP.

The federal government collected Rs 4.38 trillion in income, while the provinces collected Rs 0.43 trillion.

Meanwhile, the tax-to-GDP ratio in the first nine months of FY22 was 9.2 percent, up 0.2 percentage points from the same period the previous year.
