ISLAMABAD: Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry has been given extra responsibility for the federal law ministry, with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s assent.
A notice to that effect was issued by the Cabinet Division.
Chaudhary Fawad Hussain went to the Ministry of Law and Justice, where he was told about the work of the ministry by the Secretary of Law.
Earlier on Friday, Fawad Chaudhry announced his appointment as the new Law Minister and said that his first order of business would be to petition the courts to suspend Shehbaz Sharif and Humza Shehbaz’s bail.
He declared that he would ask the court to have PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif’s bail in a corruption case revoked.
Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz, both of whom were on bail in corruption investigations, were vying for the prime minister and Punjab chief minister positions, he told the media.
“I have been informed that I have been assigned the law ministry’s duty… I shall immediately seek to have both Shehbaz and Hamza’s bails revoked,” he continued.
Notably, the place for the Law ministry was left when Farogh Naseem resigned as a result of the MQM-decision P’s to support the united opposition’s no-confidence vote.
