On Thursday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the Men’s Test Team of the Year, which includes three Pakistanis: Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Fawad Alam.
The ICC Team of the Year recognises 11 outstanding people who astonished everyone in 2021, whether with the bat, the ball, or their all-around ability.
New Zealand’s Kane Williamson has been selected as captain of the 11-man squad, which includes three Indian players.
Kane Williamson (c), Kyle Jamieson (New Zealand), Dimuth Karunaratne (Sri Lanka), Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin (India), Marnus Labuschagne (Australia), Joe Root (England), Fawad Alam, Hasan Ali, and Shaheen Afridi are among the players in the squad (Pakistan).
Consider Fawad Hasan, Shaheen’s 2021 performance:
Alam, Fawad
Fawad Alam, 36, has finally cemented himself as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s batting order in Test cricket after years of playing provincial cricket.
He was at his best in 2021, scoring 571 runs in 9 matches at an average of 57.10 with three hundreds. His tonnes came against South Africa, Zimbabwe, and the West Indies, all of which were critical games.
Hasan Ali
Hasan Ali was a reliable performer with the ball for Pakistan in 2021, whether as a strike bowler or as a keeper.
In the long run, it was by far his best year. Ali collected 41 wickets in 9 matches at an incredible average of 16.07.
He has one five-wicket haul and his highest bowling figures in a match were 10/114.
Pakistan will hope that he can keep up his form alongside Shaheen Afridi in 2022, when they face some challenging responsibilities.
Shaheen Afridi
Shaheen Afridi had a spectacular year, particularly in the game’s longest version. Afridi claimed 47 wickets in nine matches at an average of 17.06, extracting excellent movement with the new ball and reversing it with the old. He finished with three five-wicket hauls.
Shaheen, who is still just 21, will surely lead Pakistan’s fast bowling group for many years to come, and with his bowling already growing at a quick pace, he will undoubtedly prove to be a frightening threat.
