ISLAMABAD – Fawad Chaudhry, Federal Minister for Information, said on Saturday that extremism is the root cause of terrorism.
The minister used Twitter to say that his opponents were using religious extremism to start fights.
Fawad Chaudhry said, in response to the explosion that occurred during Friday prayers in Peshawar, “Extremism emerged because the pulpit, educational institutions, and police failed to perform their roles.”
He thought that in order to stop the spread of terrorism, the country needed to act together.
Previously, the information minister said that the Peshawar bomb was connected to a wider plot against Pakistan.
“In the past, we have defeated similar schemes. Inshallah, [God willing], Pakistan’s adversaries will continue to fail. “
Notably, at least 56 people were killed and 194 injured in a suicide assault on a Peshawar mosque, the country’s bloodiest incident since 2018.
