People from Cricket Australia (CA) have announced their 16-man squad for the forthcoming ODI and T20 I series against Pakistan later this month.

However, some notable individuals were omitted from the roster. According to the CA statement, Aaron Finch will captain the white-ball team, while David Warner, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchel Starc, and Glenn Maxwell will be absent.

For Australia it was announced last month that they would travel to Pakistan with a full-strength Test team for the first time in 24 years, but several key players will be rested for the three consecutive one-day internationals and one Twenty20 match.

Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchel Starc will all be absent from Australia’s pace assault.

Glenn Maxwell, the swashbuckling short-form hitter who is getting married in the coming weeks, is absent from the batting order alongside explosive starter Warner.

The test team is scheduled to travel to Pakistan on February 27 and the first of three tests is scheduled to begin in Rawalpindi on March 4.

Cricket Australia said that a full calendar necessitated managing the workload of those players who play in all three forms—Tests, Twenty20s, and One-Day Internationals.

“We have chosen a skilled and adaptable group that will face a variety of obstacles,” selectors’ chair George Bailey stated.

Additionally, he noted the need for “building experience and depth in preparation for two short-form World Cups in the following 18 months.”

Limited overs players who were not selected for the tests will join up mid-tour, with the first one-dayer taking place in Rawalpindi on March 29.

“We’re sure that the group can compete effectively on this trip while also advancing to those critical events.”

Australia’s first visit to Pakistan since 1998 will include three tests, three one-day internationals, and one Twenty20 international.

Cricket-mad After a devastating terror assault on the Sri Lanka Test team in 2009, Pakistan has struggled to reintroduce international teams.
