At the end of trading, Japanese stocks were higher; the Nikkei 225 index was up 0.08%.

After the market closed on Tuesday, Japanese equities rose as gains in the machinery, electrical and mechanical, and precision instruments sectors drove up stock prices.

The Nikkei 225 gained 0.08% in Tokyo as the market closed.

On the Nikkei 225, Yaskawa Electric Corp. (TYO:6506), which increased 4.28% or 220.00 points to finish trading at 5,360.00, was the best performer of the session. Trend Micro Inc. (TYO:4704) was up 2.56% or 160.00 points to 6,410.00 in late activity, and Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (TYO:3863) increased by 3.52% or 37.00 points to close at 1,089.00.

On the Tokyo Stock Exchange, advancing stocks outnumbered declining ones by 1847 to 1752, and 234 finished unchanged.

Yaskawa Electric Corp. (TYO:6506) stock reached 52-week highs, increasing by 4.28%, or 220.00, to $5,360.00.

The Nikkei Volatility, a gauge of implied volatility for Nikkei 225 options, fell 5.20% to 16.59.

To reach $76.31 per barrel, crude oil for April delivery increased by 0.83%, or $0.63. Brent oil for May delivery increased by 0.73% or 0.60 to $82.64 a barrel in other commodity trading, while the April Gold Futures product decreased by 0.37% or 6.75 to trade at $1,818.15 per troy ounce.

While EUR/JPY increased by 0.01% to 144.48, USD/JPY increased by 0.17% to 136.43.

At 104.81, the US Dollar Index Futures were up 0.17%.
