Shane Watson, a former Australian all-rounder, has been named Delhi Capitals’ new Assistant Coach for the 2017 TATA Indian Premier League season. Ricky Ponting, Pravin Amre, Ajit Agarkar, and James Hopes are the other DC coaching staff members who have welcomed the 40-year-old (bowling coach).

Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has been a member of two World Cup-winning teams in the 50-over format — in 2007 and 2015. In the 2012 T20 World Cup, he was named Player of the Tournament. Watto has played 190 one-day internationals and 58 twenty-one internationals for his country, amassing more than 7,000 runs and more than 200 wickets in limited-overs cricket.
After starting his career in Australia with the Brisbane Heat, the Queenslander moved on to the Indian Premier League, where he has played for three different teams, winning two championships with the Rajasthan Royals (in 2008) and Chennai Super Kings (in 2018). As an all-rounder, Watson has scored 3875 runs and taken 92 wickets in the Indian Premier League. This makes him one of the best players in the league.
