ISLAMABAD: On Sunday, at the PTI’s Amr-bel-Maroof public gathering, an unpleasant circumstance arose when Pakistani musician and philanthropist Abrar-ul-Haq delivered the Fajr azan at Maghrib time.
The musician, who is also a member of the governing PTI, is seen in a video issuing the call to prayer at the PTI rally’s Maghrib hour. However, the singer incorrectly said “Assalat-o-Khairum’minann noum” (prayer is preferable to sleep)—an Arabic phrase intended for morning prayer only.
The rally participants instantly saw the inaccuracy and began hooting. The call to prayer was cut short in the midst, and Senator Faisal Javed said the azan.
However, there is no proof that this happened. It is thought that a recorded call to prayer was played at the PTI rally instead of the benefactor giving it live.
