ISLAMABAD: With a power shortfall of 6,775 megawatts, all nine power distribution companies (Discos) started forced loadshedding in both urban and rural areas of the country on Friday. This will last for hours.
Sources say that the total electricity demand in the country is 26,775 megawatts, while 5,219 megawatts of electricity comes from water and 1,284 megawatts comes from government thermal plants.
Due to a lack of power, electricity is being cut off in different parts of the country without warning for up to 14 hours at a time.
