A Pakistani student studying MBBS in Ukraine’s capital city, Kiev, has lost communication with his parents in Tando Allahyar, Bol news reported on Friday.
The parents said that their 24-year-old son, Zarrar Gujjar, was enrolled at Kiev’s International European University, where he was studying MBBS. They said that they had been unable to reach their kids for more than 24 hours after the Russian strike.
Khadim Hussain Gujjar, the stranded youth’s father, said that his son was a third-year MBBS student. He said that they attempted to reach him many times but were unsuccessful. He also said that they were unable to reach the Pakistani embassy.
He asked the Pakistani government to quickly send back all Pakistanis who were caught up in the fighting, including his son.
One day ago, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Ukraine, Dr. Noel Israel Khokhar, said the government was working to make sure all Pakistanis in Ukraine were safe when they left.
The embassy said that 1,500 Pakistanis, including 500 students, were in Ukraine and had been told to move to safer areas.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s embassy in Ukraine stated in a tweet that Ukraine’s airspace was restricted while the embassy spoke with Pakistani students who were unable to go sooner than advised.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated Pakistan’s stance that disagreements should be addressed via conversation and diplomacy, lamenting the recent situation between Russia and Ukraine.
