Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani Wednesday said Pakistan and China have common agenda for regional development and shared a dream for the prosperity of the Asian people as the mutual ties are deep-rooted in the history.

He expressed these views while talking to Ambassador of China Yao Jing, who called on him here at the Parliament House on Wednesday, a press release said.

The ambassador congratulated the Senate chairman and extended an invitation on behalf of the Chairman of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPC). Senate chairman while accepting the invitation said he would pay the first official visit to China.

He said One Belt One Road project would open the new vista for the regional development particularly in Asia. He said the relationship between the two countries are based on strategic needs and remained always strong irrespective of the fact which party have the government in Pakistan.

He expressed the hope that the Parliamentary relationship between the two countries would further strengthen in future. The Senate chairman said the parliamentary relations play an important role in furthering the development agenda for economic prosperity.

He said further increase in parliamentary relations between Pakistan and China would augment the time-tested cooperation between the two countries. He said Pakistan and China have adopted common grounds on many international and regional parliamentary fora and we hope that by the exchange of parliamentary delegations would further enhance this cooperation.

He said Pakistan values its relationship with China and appreciates the Chinese cooperation for China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is now a reality. He said China may consider future cooperation with Pakistan in the education sector and should send more Chinese students to study in Pakistan.

He said Balochistan particularly Gwadar area has huge potential for investment and China may invest in establishing Metal Refinery in the province. The Senate chairman appreciated the cooperation offered by the Chinese ambassador for developing sports infrastructure in Balochistan especially for the promotion of the football in Makran region.
